GoPro9 + SeeUsPlay Rig = Tilted Video and Errors

Hi all - I am testing the demo version out today for the first time and have run into some issues. My setup: two GoPro 9’s set at 4k/30, 8 bit rate, stabilization off, and mounted on a SeeUsPlay rig.

  1. I don’t see the GoPro 9 listed in the main menu. What should I select, or is there a GoPro 9 file I can import?
  2. Once I get to the stitching window, the video is tilted. How do I fix this?
  3. I got the failed to read error but was able to update the registry key.

You can find the GoPro 9 model file here: actionstitch-player/calibration at main · gilbertchen/actionstitch-player · GitHub

If the video is tilted you need to hold the green up and down arrow and move the mouse to rotate the entired stitched scene.

@gchen I did download the calibration file, and I have it selected under the camera option. At first, I thought recording in 4K was the issue as I saw your other comments about it needing to be 5K. I took a sample shot this morning in 5K, and I am still having the same issue. Is there a way for me to send you the videos to see if there is something I am doing wrong? I am printing a GoPro specific mount in case it is the SeeUsPlay rig that is causing the issue.

You can send the videos to me via https://www.swisstransfer.com/ (PM me the link).

I sent two different videos: one 4k, and one 5k from the Go Pro 9. Thank you.

It can be stitched. The stitching isn’t perfect, because the SeeUsPlay rig is different – 2 cameras don’t sit on the same plane. If you use the mount recommended in our camera guide the results should be much better.

@gchen this is encouraging! I have a mount being printed through Cloudcraft as we speak. A couple questions:

  1. What resolution did you use for stitching?
  2. Were the videos tilted for you and required rotating? Is that a SeeUsPlay rig issue?
  3. It’s usually the right side that is tilted. Is it possible to only rotate one side?
