How High is everyone mounting their cameras?

Hey Everyone, I’m just starting here and wanted to gather some information.

How High is everyone mounting their GoPro 11/12/13 to yield the best field coverage on a 9v9 and 11v11 field? I know that if it’s too low, the geometric distortion is greater… but what seems to work best at what height?

Thanks in advance.

I think a 12 or 13 foot tripod should be sufficient. I personally use a 20 foot one, but I typically only raise it to 15 or 16 feet.

I just found this tripod one Amazon which might be a good choice if you decide to go higher than 13 feet: Amazon.com

Cool thanks… Yeah I figured as much. I have a few 20ft light stands around, and since I have a few options in height I wanted to see which people has had the best success.

do you use an umbrella or something to protect devices from overheating? I’m in Texas where that’s a huge deal.

Maybe Something like this? I use a bigger version when I shoot sports photos on a Tripod.

Does that cause movement/vibration from wind? Or is the tripod stable enough. I’m thinking of gchen’s 20ft one.

Yeah… you’re probably going to get vibration caused by that sail (umbrella)… might be a better idea is commissioning a Action Camera Sun hood instead.

One of the reasons why the expensive Veo and Trace Lighting stands are made out of Carbon Fiber is because of its stiffness and vibration dampening properties over Aluminium. One thing I learned being in the Pro Photography world, is that you pay for quality in Grip Gear.
