Iphone vs GoPro video quality

Hi, noticed the Veo Go was recently launched which uses 2 iphones. Im currently using 2 x GoPro 11’s, but the fixed focal length means players further away from the cameras are blurred when its processed in a ball tracking app. I sometimes use a Reolink Duo 3 which produces sharper videos, but its only 20fps. Wondering how 2 x iphone 14s would compare against 2 x GoPro 11s. Grateful for any insights or hearing from people who’ve used iphones. Thanks.

I don’t think Veo Go with 2 iphones would give you better quality than 2 GoPros. Filming with 3 phones (one additional one for controling the other 2) is a bit too much, and you need to make sure that both phones would have enough storage and battery for the game.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll do a small trial on the weekend using 1 x iphone, 1 x GoPro and the Reolink. In your opinion, what are the best cameras (2 of) for recording football games at a minimum 30fps and high resolution that could be stitched using your software?

I think 2 GoPros should give you the best quality, mostly because of the higher resolution (5.3k vs 4k). There is also one other factor to consider – the horizontal FOV of iphone’s ultra wide camera is smaller (108° vs 118°), which means you’ll have to point the dual mount precisely to the center, to avoid cutting off one of the corners.

Sharing in case of interest to others. Some images of my sons football shirt (!) taken using a GoPro 11, iPhone 14 and a Reolink camera. To me, the iPhone image is slightly better quality than the GoPro.

super useful, thanks!

Hi Ben how is the video result from reolink do you satisfied?
