Requesting 4K calibration for GoPro Hero 12 Black

Following up on this thread — I’m running into the same issue, but with GoPro Hero 12 Black cameras instead of Hero 11s.

My setup:

  • 2x GoPro Hero 12 Black, dual mount on a light stand at the sideline
  • Recording settings: 4K, 30fps, Wide lens, HyperSmooth off
  • Both cameras confirmed to have identical settings

I’ve tried stitching with every camera profile currently available in ActionStitch (including Hero 11 Black 5.3K full and standard), and all of them produce severe warping/vortex-style distortion on one side of the stitched output — not just minor misalignment, but the kind of extreme stretching that suggests the dewarp math is working from the wrong lens/sensor calibration entirely.

Since there’s no native Hero 12 profile yet, I’d like to request a custom calibration for:

  • Camera: GoPro Hero 12 Black
  • Resolution: 4K (3840x2160)
  • FPS: 30
  • Lens: Wide
  • Stabilization: Off (HyperSmooth disabled)

I’m ready to record the calibration checkerboard footage at these exact settings whenever you confirm this is workable. Happy to upload it to Google Drive/Dropbox as soon as I have the pattern set up correctly.

Also want to flag — since I’m not the only one asking about Hero 12 in this thread, seems like there may be enough demand from Hero 12 owners to make this profile broadly useful, not just for my case.

Thanks for the work you’ve put into this tool — it’s been the most reliable stitching option I’ve found for sports footage once the calibration is right.

Why not just record at 5.3k and use the Hero 11 5.3k profile?

If you still think 4k works best for you, I’ll be happy to do the calibration if you can PM me a 4k calibration video.

Thanks for reaching back out. Really appreciate the work you’ve done here. I decided to go up to 5.3k. I believe my “trial” has just expired, so I need to buy a license.
Couple questions if you don’t mind:

  1. Once my license is bought, how does the already installed software receive it? I can’t find a settings window/option to input licenses.
  2. Is it true that Actionstitch doesn’t use GPU acceleration on rendering? That its only CPU. I believe that’s lending to some really really long rendering times. Its admittingly putting me off on proceeding with using the software.

Its saying when I try to stitch. “License has been issued to a different host”. When I downloaded/installed Actionstitch I did it under a VPN. I currently have the VPN turned off. Would that effect this?

I found the solution to this. Deleting the license in the registry for actionstitch then relaunching the program. Error is gone now.
